Welcome to Reflective Smiles, the mirror to your overall health. I am the owner and founder of Reflective Smiles. I am also a wife, mother, Registered Dental Hygienist, Certified Orofacial Myologist, and promoter of overall health.
I look forward to meeting you and seeing how Myofunctional Therapy can benefit you in addressing your personal orofacial dysfunctions.
About Me
My passion for oral health and my fascination with teeth ignited at the age of 7. The root morphology, size, and texture of my teeth captivated me as I began to lose them one by one, and I was even more intrigued when new adult teeth appeared in their place!
As a Sophomore in high school, I diligently explored every catalog in the counselors office, actively seeking colleges with Dental Hygiene Programs. By age 15, I had set clear goals that would lead me to a fulfilling career beyond my after-school job at Subway Sandwiches.
Thirty years ago, I embarked on my dental career as an assistant, responding to every ad in the newspaper (1995) until an exceptional dentist took a chance on me. A clinical instructor at UCLA, he imparted invaluable knowledge about dentistry and caring for people. I persevered, completing 4 years of college, and by 2001, I proudly earned my first of 3 Dental Hygiene State Licenses. My educational journey includes Bachelor's degrees in both Dental Hygiene and Oral Health Promotion.
My extensive experience in the dental field has given me a profound understanding of the oral cavity, facial muscles, and the dysfunctions many patients face. In 2006, I pursued my first post-graduate training course in Orofacial Myology with the AOMT. This course was transformational, providing the essential piece I had long sought in the dental field. I realized the significant impact this training would have on my professional journey and the vital role I could play in the airway-conscious dental community today.
In the summer of 2014, eight years later, Reflective Smiles was established. This endeavor was inspired by a young girl who visited my dental chair, feeling upset over the harsh "tongue tamer spikes" her orthodontist had applied. I'm happy to share her story at any time, as it's deeply meaningful to me.
In 2018, I proudly obtained my' Certified Specialist in Orofacial Myology certification through the Graduate School of Behavioral Health Sciences, and in 2019, I became a Certified Orofacial Myologist through the International Academy of Orofacial Myology (IAOM).
I remain committed to expanding my knowledge in airway health and holistic health practices, and I am thrilled to bring Reflective Smiles to the Tulsa, area.
