Hi, I'm
Jill Roberto.
Welcome to Reflective Smiles, the mirror to your overall health. I am the owner and founder of Reflective Smiles. I am also a wife, mother, Registered Dental Hygienist, and promoter of overall health. I look forward to meeting you and seeing how Myofunctional Therapy can benefit you in addressing your personal orofacial dysfunctions.
A Little Bit About Me
My love for oral health and fascination with teeth began at the young age of 7. I was fascinated by the root morphology, size, and texture of the teeth as I began to lose them one by one. I was intrigued even more when new adult teeth would magically appear in their places!
As a Sophomore in high school, I recall combing through all of the catalogs in the counselors office, and searching for colleges that offered a Dental Hygiene Program. At the age of 15, I now had tangible goals that would rescue me from my after school job at Subway Sandwiches.
I began my dental career 30 years ago as a dental assistant. I answered every ad in the newspaper (1995) until an amazing dentist decided to take a chance on me. He was a clinical instructor at UCLA, and he taught me a lot about dentistry and caring for people. From there I put myself through 4 years of college, and in 2001, I earned my first of 3 State licenses (CA, TX, OK) for Dental Hygiene. I hold Bachelors degrees in both Dental Hygiene and Oral Health Promotion.
My experience in the dental field has put me at the forefront for observing the oral cavity, facial muscles, and the many dysfunctions patients experience. In 2006, I took my first post grad training course in Orofacial Myology through the AOMT. It was life changing for me and so many others. This information was the missing piece I had been searching for in the dental world and I had no idea of the impact that course would have on me personally, and in the current dental -airway conscious world we live in today.
Eight years later, in the summer of 2014, Reflective Smiles was born in central Texas. It all stemmed from a young girl in my dental chair, and if you are ever interested in the story, I will gladly share it with you.
I had the pleasure of working with and collaborating with local ENT's, orthodontists, pediatric dentists, body workers, and Speech Language Pathologists. I continued my Myofunctional Training engaging in advanced course work through the AOMT, including hands on training with Patrick McKeown, in Buteyko Breathing.
In 2018, I earned my "Certified Specialist in Orofacial Myology" certification through the Graduate School of Behavioral Health Sciences, and in 2019, I became a Certified Orofacial Myologist through the International Academy of Orofacial Myology (IAOM).
I am delighted to be practicing Myofunctional Therapy again in our new state of Oklahoma, and I look forward to helping you with your personal orofacial dysfunctions.
Smiles,
Jill Roberto, RDH, BS, CSOM, COM
